ᐅ Remove carpet using a scraper or a floor sander?

I am currently renovating an apartment and having major difficulties removing the carpet from the subfloor (old wooden floorboards). The carpet adhesive is stuck firmly over a large area on the floorboards, which I want to refinish. Question: Do I really have to scrape off the entire surface with a putty knife, or can the sanding machine handle it? I’m afraid the adhesive residues won’t be sanded off...

Hi,
I also have an electric scraper like that, and I use it to remove adhesive residue from carpet flooring effectively. However, I don’t have any attachment for it and cannot cut miters on baseboards.
Best regards

So, if you have an electric spatula, it goes quite quickly, but if you don’t have one and have to do it with a regular spatula, you will probably be occupied with it for quite some time.

Well, electric putty knives are not that expensive anymore, but you can also rent a professional tool, which many hardware stores offer.

If you compare the time spent applying putty by hand versus buying a tool for about 50, hmm, I know what I would choose.

Applying the filler by hand is really tedious work. I use a sanding machine for that, and it works perfectly. I bought such a machine and also lend it to family members.

Sanding by hand is not an option at all. There are special machines designed for this purpose, and it can be done using a sanding machine. A multi-tool router can also be used. This way, everything can be done without much physical effort.

I also renovated our living area and removed the old carpet. Then I saw the problem—there was adhesive everywhere. I rented a floor sanding machine, and it worked wonderfully. The vacuum system also collected all the dust and debris.

I can really recommend this.
