we removed the carpet in the children's room and found a lot of carpet adhesive residue underneath. What is the best way to remove it?

Hello
If there are still foam residues from the carpet, rent a "stripper" (electric scraper) to remove the foam. Otherwise, scrape it off by hand.
Then, depending on the type of new floor covering you want to install, this may be enough, or you may also need to remove the carpet adhesive from the subfloor. You do this with a floor grinder.
If you want to glue down new parquet flooring, you must remove all residues. If you plan to install carpet again or a floating parquet floor—that is, not glued to the subfloor—then it is sufficient without sanding or milling off the carpet adhesive.

Gutbert-110 Nov 2008 15:25The solution is available at the hardware store
If you visit the hardware store, you can rent a tool that works like an electric scraper. One advantage is that you don’t have to treat your floor with chemical substances, so there are no toxic fumes. It does make noise, but I find that much healthier than having the house smell like a lab for weeks. Especially if you have children or pets, this is the better option.

Annegret-122 Jun 2014 12:12Chemical products are not an option for me. Scraping by hand is also too time-consuming. An electric scraper is the right tool for removing carpet residues.

herrmann-126 Jun 2014 11:38Nothing is done here by hand anymore. I have a floor sander, and it removes all old carpet residues as well as adhesive effectively.
