Hello!

Many older houses have a full exterior cladding.
“Eternit makes houses fit!”

This shingle-like cladding mainly served aesthetic purposes, right? Some houses only have one side clad, usually the side exposed to the weather.

The question is: if you remove the cladding along with its substructure, which should basically be quite simple, would it only affect the appearance? Or was insulation material also installed behind it? The original exterior wall/plaster underneath would probably need at least some repairs and repainting once exposed.

It’s quite possible that these older cladding panels contain asbestos.
Apparently, fibers are usually only released when drilling or breaking them. For a simple removal, would a specialist company definitely be required? As far as I know, the material must be disposed of safely, usually packed in bags.
Is it possible to give an approximate disposal cost per square meter?

The reason for asking is that there is a nice house for sale, but it is clad all around, which we don’t really like. We will need to ask the seller exactly what kind of cladding it is, or perhaps find out from company stamps or something similar.

Thanks!

Best regards
