Hello, we have an air-to-water heat pump mounted on the exterior wall of our house.

After about 5 years, I have the impression that the pump is starting to vibrate more and more, and these vibrations naturally transfer into the house, causing disturbance. When the pump is running, if you touch the window from inside, you can clearly feel the glass vibrating.

My question is: How can I, as a layperson, reduce these vibrations? Would it help to realign the heating system?

Can I manage this without refrigeration technician operation? Because I can't approve the system since the refrigerant line is connected there.
If necessary, build the base high enough so that the position remains unchanged, but is detached from the wall.

By the way, why do people install the heat pump “half in the window”?

Certainly feasible, but I estimate the effort to be considerable. I also find it odd to attach such a large unit directly to the exterior wall and then partially in front of the window. Our company found a more elegant solution for this. Later, the landscaping contractor integrated it very well into the garden pathway.

So, having it in front of the window is obviously not ideal. However, using brackets fixed to the wall is common practice and is done every day all over the world. Of course, this doesn’t change the fact that it will start humming and vibrating eventually, or even immediately.

You just need to clarify with the system installer beforehand what has been planned.
