Hello everyone,
We plan to start our construction project in 2016 in central Hesse near Gießen and are currently looking for a reliable building partner. There are some local general contractors, but unfortunately, I can hardly find any reviews or feedback about them (e.g., Franz and Lotz, Ernst W. BU, Bickel-Bau, Bautrend Nidda).
I have already had initial discussions with some of these companies, but I notice that they tend to be rather skeptical about modern technical options, such as ventilation systems, and have indirectly indicated that they prefer to stick to a standard model (energy-saving regulation house with gas heating and token solar panels in a 36.5cm (14.5 inches) Ytong masonry structure).
Can anyone recommend builders in this area? Would a local Town & Country franchise be worth considering? Are there any national or regional providers worth looking into?
Our plans: solid masonry house, possibly KfW55 standard, no basement.
Thank you for your feedback and have a great weekend!

Massa Haus is the brand for shell homes within the Deutsche Fertighaus Holding. A shell home means it’s not completely finished, leaving room for the DIY enthusiast to complete the interior. The final quality obviously depends on one’s own craftsmanship, so you probably won’t find many reviews about that. Comparing Massa Haus with Weberhaus in the same breath is definitely quite a stretch.
Massa Haus is based in the Hunsrück region, Weberhaus in Ortenaukreis—both quite broadly described as "Gießen and surrounding area." Bien-Zenker (located in Schlüchtern, Main-Kinzig district) would actually be much closer. However, we are talking here about a local civil engineering contractor who builds with solid construction and is also called Weberhaus.I didn’t realize Massa Haus does very little of the interior finishing. That would fit with our neighbor. I hold him in high regard for his craftsmanship and believe he is capable of that.

I didn’t know Massa Haus only does a little of the interior finishing. Originally, Massa Haus exclusively built shell houses. They are now part of a corporate group where they are responsible for this market segment (the other three brands in the group offer traditional prefabricated houses or solid construction homes). Massa Haus is basically the core brand of Deutsche Fertighaus Holding.
