Hello everyone,

I have been following some interesting posts here over the past few weeks. Maybe you can help me with your experience regarding earthworks. First, a few details:

Project:
Single-family house (approx. 135m² (1450 sq ft) living space, without a basement) with an attached garage
Terrain mostly flat

Soil survey report:
Topsoil to be removed to a depth of 50cm (20 inches)
Fill layers (compacted in layers) with an average thickness of 80cm (31.5 inches) required (top 15cm (6 inches) as a capillary break layer)
Material: gravel-sand mixture or crushed mineral stone mixture (grain size 0/45)

Which types of fill would you recommend?
What should be especially considered during the earthworks to prevent the garage from settling onto the neighboring property when built close to the boundary (ideally it should remain a few centimeters higher than the current neighboring ground level)?

Thank you very much in advance and best regards.
