ᐅ Recommendation for LED downlights

I plan to purchase and install LED spotlights myself in my prefabricated house. The lighting outlets will be prepared by the house manufacturer. Can anyone recommend LED spotlights with a good price-performance ratio and possibly a suitable online store? Preferably both dimmable and non-dimmable options. Are there general guidelines on how many LED spotlights should be planned for a certain living area?

at least the tiler can then work properly.

And keep in mind... I’m talking about Hong Kong wattage

Yes, and if you take the electrician’s materials and look at the label, it also says Made in Asia – at least that’s the case with our “brand” light bulbs. But luckily, you can order new ones for a low price (even if the shipping from there takes a long time).

However, 15 out of 16 of the 5W LEDs have already failed within the first six months

Oh dear. We have installed quite a lot of LEDs (some of which are already working; some are even connected to dimmer modules). I used to think (in my youthful naivety) that while LEDs are not indestructible, they should operate reliably over a very, very long period. Well, that’s something new I’ve learned.

It depends on the quality – that's why I would never order cheap stuff for this... Additionally, it is always important to ensure sufficient heat dissipation, as these components are quite sensitive to it.

Which spotlights would have good quality and be as bright as possible?

As I said, I suspect it was simply due to the batch. At first, they started flickering, and it didn’t take long before they completely stopped working.
The replacement 5W LEDs have a different batch number and have been working without any issues so far.

Regarding the price:
I found the combination of LED and recessed spotlight to be reasonable.
Individually, I thought the LEDs were actually quite expensive at that shop.

As I mentioned, I have mine from Philips and am very satisfied – no failures at all. Especially since there is only a single LED inside – I find those floodlights with multiple LEDs visually quite unattractive.

You can also check out Osram – and yes, they do cost quite a bit more than offers from the Far East on eBay.
