Hello everyone,
we are about to buy furniture for the nursery.
Which pieces of furniture have you been happy with?
Where did you purchase them?
Another question: changing table directly in the nursery or in the bathroom? Or both?
Thanks and best regards

When it’s just about needs... then we are basically asking how much one must own to be happy. You don’t actually need a house either.
There are many lovely things to buy for children and their surroundings that bring joy. For example, a comfortable nursing chair in a pleasant spot was important for us... Needed? No, but it was nice. A nicely furnished nursery? Needed? Well, sure, it can be done differently, but it is nice!

I really enjoyed sourcing and preparing everything. I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on that, even though I ended up not needing many of the things.I really enjoyed buying almost new items second-hand for just a fraction of the original price.
Simply Ikea Hemnes.
The wide dresser with a self-built top unit (just Google it, there are great hacks and guides). Directly a reasonably large 3-door Pax wardrobe (the ones from baby room sets are often actually quite small). And a simple white crib (not Ikea, since theirs has a special size that is smaller than the German standard crib), plus a bedside crib for the parents’ bed.
Advantages: affordable, easily expandable at any time (you can get all kinds of matching products from Ikea, shelves, dressers, sideboards, shelves …), and I don’t get annoyed if it gets scratched.
For the dresser and wardrobe, I also bought nice porcelain knobs.
We had this setup for child number 1 and then bought it again straight away for number 2.

We don’t have a separate nursery yet (that will come later in the house). For the changing area, my husband simply built something where the 75×85cm (30×33 inches) changing pads we have from Julius Zöllner fit on top, with a drawer of the same size underneath. In that drawer, we keep everything we need there: diapers, wet wipes, nail scissors, diaper rash cream, and also a few other items that just need to be stored somewhere, like swim diapers, the child health booklet, and various other things. Right now, the whole setup is in the bathroom, but in our previous apartment, it was in the hallway outside the bathroom. Underneath the drawer, there is space where the laundry basket used to be, which we had used as a baby bathtub, and now there’s a cleaning bucket and our daughter’s stool so she can reach the sink.
For the diaper bin, we just use a regular household trash can with a standard large garbage bag. It works well.
The clothes are stored in a dresser that is currently in the living room.
The crib (60×120cm / 24×47 inches) stands next to our bed. We got it almost for free from friends and only bought a new mattress (also an affordable one from Julius Zöllner). I believe the crib is from Ikea. As a bedside crib, we simply removed one side and replaced it with two wooden slats screwed inside to bring the sleeping surface to the right height.
Overall, most of what we have was either bought secondhand or given to us by friends, which saved us a lot.
I agree with others: it’s better to buy less and, if necessary, buy more later than to buy a lot of unnecessary things upfront.

We received the initial setup for the children's room as a gift from grandma. The bed is still in the bedroom, and the changing table is in the children's room, but the room is still being used as a storage space for unwanted or once again unwanted toys and other children's items. The main living area is on the ground floor, between the living room, kitchen, and garden.
