Hello everyone,

In our planned 165m² (1,776 sq ft) home for 4 people, we will install a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery in the attic. Due to the maximum height of about 1.5m (5 feet), the system should be installed horizontally for easier maintenance and simpler ductwork.

Is there a recommendation for devices that are especially suitable for this situation?

Thanks in advance!

The Hoval HomeVent comfort FR (201 - 301) can be installed in various positions; ours is mounted horizontally below the ceiling. I believe it can also be installed lying flat on the floor.

We have a Helios EC 340 D.
It is also designed for ceiling installation.

Paul Novus 450 from Zehnder would also work.
Just leave this question to the contractor; they will definitely have some suggestions.

1.5 meters (5 feet) is more than enough for any typical system.

Thanks for the replies!

The craftsman will suggest something, of course, since the site manager has asked him to do so. But experience so far shows: it’s important to be involved yourself, so you know what’s going on and can influence things if necessary ;-)

Regarding the 1.5m (5 feet): that is the height at the highest point, so it will need to be installed a bit lower. So, "actually" it is possible, but "actually," site managers and homeowners don’t want that.
