Hello, I’m new here and still quite inexperienced. We want to install a click vinyl floor in our newly renovated mid-terrace house and came across an offer from the Ruckzuck Store. Here is the product details:

Click vinyl oak Kono country plank 6mm + 1mm underlay
1800x246 mm (71 x 9.7 inches)
Thickness 6 + 1 mm (0.24 + 0.04 inches)
Length 1800 mm (71 inches)
Width 246 mm (9.7 inches)
Planks per package 4
Installation style country plank
Beveled edges 4-sided V-groove
Decor oak
Color tone dark
Surface Timberland
Durability class 32 / AC4
Features water-resistant
Connection system Classen megaloc: probably the fastest and easiest installation system worldwide.
Installation method floating installation
Integrated impact sound insulation
Suitable for underfloor heating with warm water
Quality first choice
Manufacturer’s residential warranty 20 years
Sales unit package
Delivery time about 7 to 10 working days

Would you say it’s safe to buy this without concerns? The price is very attractive right now at about 14 euros per m² (approximately $14 per 10.8 sq ft). We have underfloor heating on the ground floor.

Thanks very much for your brief feedback.
Best regards

Hello questioner.
It is difficult to give an objective answer on this topic!
Use class 32 will cover all mechanical stresses of a residential property.
However, when it comes to the manufacturer’s warranty, it is necessary to be vigilant, because a WARRANTY – unlike a guarantee – unconditionally covers all possible damage aspects. This sounds good at first.
However, a prerequisite for a WARRANTY is proper use according to the contract.
And here the problem for the (complaining) client usually began in the past.
Any scratch in the wear layer caused by small stones or a dropped pot lid is NOT proper or contract-compliant use!
The all-around V-groove will visually highlight the valuable aspect of the flooring in its new condition.
But if dirt accumulates there, and since it is always found in the mop water after wet cleaning, dries out, and reduces the overall aesthetic impression of the floor surface, the client’s mood usually decreases as well.
But that is just how a V-groove is.
The reference to “first quality” is an empty pseudo-argument.
It is completely irrelevant into which (insignificant) quality level a sales outlet classifies its floor elements.
What matters is the designation of the use class (here: 32).
--------------
What remains is your sole decision for or against a product.
A product (here: laminate flooring elements) must meet the properties according to DIN EN 14041 “Resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings – Essential characteristics” or DIN EN 16511 “Modular mechanically locking floor coverings (MMF) – Specification, requirements and test methods for multilayer modular panels for floating installation.”
Regardless of whether it says first quality or anything else in the (always non-binding) product description.
What counts is the product data sheet. You should obtain and study it…
And whether a 1mm (0.04 inch) thick impact sound insulation layer deserves the associated name “impact sound insulation” I will deliberately leave open!

However, when it comes to the manufacturer’s warranty, you need to be vigilant, because a WARRANTY – unlike a guarantee – covers absolutely all potential types of damage. That sounds good at first.

And this is where problems have occurred in the past for the (complaining) builder.
Any scratch in the wear layer caused by small stones or a dropped pot lid is NOT proper or intended use!
The all-round V-groove will visually enhance the valuable aspect of the flooring when new.
But if dirt accumulates there – and it always does in the rinse water after wet cleaning – it dries there and reduces the overall aesthetic impression of the floor surface, which usually also affects the builder’s mood.

The reference to "1st quality" is an empty marketing argument.
It is completely irrelevant how a sales outlet classifies their flooring elements in some (insignificant) quality grade.
