Hello everyone,
I am currently considering how to cover the roof overhang for our new single-family house. On the gable side, we have two rafters extending outwards (total overhang without cladding and insulation layer = 50cm (20 inches)). Please see the attached pictures.
Is it advisable to attach plastic U-profiles, for example from a company like Heering, directly onto the rafters and then install plastic panels on the rafters? Or would it be better to install a sub-batten system, so that the rafters remain visible later on? For which option do I need to ensure ventilation behind the cladding?
I look forward to your suggestions and ideas.
Thank you and best regards,
Julian

Since the rafters are protected by the roof, maintenance requirements are minimal.

Hello everyone,
I have now ordered panels from Heering / Mammut.
I would like to start installing them tomorrow.
The U-channels will be screwed directly onto the rafters as side guides. Then the panels will be inserted lengthwise into these and screwed onto the rafters. What is the best way to proceed if I want to install U-channels in the area between the ridge beam and the base beam?
Once I have fixed both side enclosures with U-channels, I won’t have any space left to insert the profiled panels.
In this case, is it common to leave out a section of the U-channel at the end face?
