Hello everyone,
I am currently considering how to cover the roof overhang for our new single-family house. On the gable side, we have two rafters extending outwards (total overhang without cladding and insulation layer = 50cm (20 inches)). Please see the attached pictures.
Is it advisable to attach plastic U-profiles, for example from a company like Heering, directly onto the rafters and then install plastic panels on the rafters? Or would it be better to install a sub-batten system, so that the rafters remain visible later on? For which option do I need to ensure ventilation behind the cladding?
I look forward to your suggestions and ideas.
Thank you and best regards,
Julian

It’s actually a shame that wood wasn’t used between the rafters from the start. I wouldn’t worry about moisture getting trapped, but I would briefly consult with the roofing specialists.
My initial idea is to paint the gaps – matching the color to the house.
