Hello everyone, the interior plaster is now dry, and the painter wants to start soon. The agreement was for a Q2 finish using gypsum plaster.

Yesterday, I took the following pictures using a flashlight and grazing light. I understand that grazing light reveals more than usual, but is this considered normal for grazing light and a Q2 finish, or is it poor workmanship? I tend to think it is poor workmanship. The site manager has been informed but has not yet been able to inspect.

It’s not even Q1, let alone Q2.
But from what you usually read: plaster beads? That’s for DIYers. Professionals use corner beads and plaster guides, that’s it. The plaster is applied over the surface and then leveled until it’s right...
I would also be interested in the biological basis for mold growing on gypsum. Gypsum is inorganic—where would mold get its nutrients from?

Plaster guides? That’s something for DIYers; professionals use corner beads and plaster stop beads, that’s it.
And how do you ensure the contractually agreed plaster thickness (e.g., 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) in my case) is maintained everywhere? Just by eye? I’m afraid that’s difficult with a spray machine, which is mostly used nowadays.

Have you ever tiled a bathroom without using plaster guides? You can see what it looks like without them in the neighboring thread. Those must have been the professionals working without these guides.

Otherwise, xMistryriumx, you really seem to have a lot of technical knowledge. I would appreciate more of your genuinely smart advice!

Small update: We escalated the issue over the weekend with the plasterer and site manager, and corrective work is already underway. After that, the site manager will come by again to take measurements and for the final inspection.
