Hello everyone,

has anyone here already had experience with these venetian blinds? They are currently being offered by all the common brands. How much do they actually darken the room? I understand they can’t compete with roller shutters, but do they provide significantly better darkening than regular slatted blinds?

I envy anyone who can sleep under difficult conditions. I don’t understand why people want to make children sleep in complete darkness. I consider it unnecessary.

In many parts of the country, people usually don’t even have shutters and still sleep well.

Take a look at those things in person. They were shown to us as well, but they were clearly too expensive. A surcharge of 300 euros per window compared to blinds. That would have been about 6000 euros in total. It wasn’t worth it for us.

That’s the big problem. Everyone can only show you the individual slats, never the complete system. For us, shutters are not an option because of the exterior appearance.

So we were able to test it at the window supplier back then. Why shouldn't it be possible?

Because we have now been to 8 different suppliers, and everywhere they only had "standard" S-shaped slats on display.

One of my grandchildren comes from a household where the parents could completely darken the nursery, and they did so at bedtime. This works perfectly with poultry – when the light is off, they calm down – but it didn’t work with the grandchildren. He would stand in his crib in the morning grinning as if he had smelled the light. His younger sibling slept much more lightly; in my opinion, differences in sleep behavior were more related to their individual condition.

Hotels use blackout curtains, which are quite affordable and block out all light through the fabric. Anyone who can sew can make them with minimal effort. I would suggest checking out, for example, stoffe.de.

Wishing you restful nights, with or without light protection!
