CarlFredricksen23 Dec 2015 21:28Since the apartment I will soon move into has very unattractive wall tiles installed only on one side, and my kitchen has an L-shape, I decided after a long search to go with the white Fastbo tile pattern.
From various posts I have read, it seems these tiles can be attached with silicone adhesive and you don’t necessarily have to use the mounting rails.
However, I have the following questions:
1. The distance between my countertop and the wall cabinet is 56cm (22 inches), but Fastbo tiles are only 50cm (20 inches) high. What should I do? Can the panels be easily cut so that I could add an extra tile row underneath? That would generally be useful since there are windows on both walls. I would then also have to cut out the shapes for the windows from the Fastbo tiles...
2. When I search for this wall tile version online at Ikea, a red one is also shown. What is that about? Are they only sold as a set in this combination?
I would really appreciate any advice.

IKEA-Experte26 Dec 2015 11:03At least with a saw, the panels should be easy to cut.
The panels have a finish on both sides, so there is no white without red.

CarlFredricksen26 Dec 2015 11:16Thank you for the reply. The tip about cutting already helps me a lot. However, I don’t really understand the part about the finish. The panels themselves are white, aren’t they?
Do they actually reflect as much as they appear to in the photos? That looks quite plasticky... It seems less of an issue with black, though.

IKEA-Experte26 Dec 2015 21:39White on one side, red on the other. You use the red side to stick the panels to the wall, unless you suddenly decide that red is your color.

Thank you very much
