Bumblebee_543412 Jun 2012 09:47Good morning,
I urgently need help and found this forum. I need assistance... urgently. Last night, I bought two VÄRDE wall cabinets, 120cm x 60cm (47 inches x 24 inches). The carcasses are assembled, but how on earth do I attach the door opening mechanism? Do I have to drill holes in the side panels? Or are there pre-drilled holes like in other IKEA furniture?
I had new tiles installed on the walls over the weekend, and now I need to hang the cabinets to clear up the mess in my living room... please, please help me with my wall cabinets 🙂
Best regards

IKEA-Experte12 Jun 2012 10:19As I see it, the front screw fits into a pre-drilled hole, and the other screws are chipboard screws meant to be driven directly into the wood. I prefer not to do it that way and usually pre-drill holes myself.

Bumblebee_543412 Jun 2012 11:08Hello.
I thought the same at first. But what confuses me is the drilling template that came with the door lift mechanisms. Also, there’s the spacing of the holes shown in the assembly instructions for the cabinet. There are three open holes at the top and one more visible at the bottom. When I insert this screw into the pre-drilled hole, the spacing is larger than shown in the pictures in the cabinet instructions.
I know the lift mechanisms 🙂 for the doors also fit the Faktum system if used vertically. I don’t want to drill any holes incorrectly 🙂 too expensive 😀 and my husband will kill me then. hehe

Bumblebee_543412 Jun 2012 12:01So on "page 16," it shows how to attach that part...
There are two large holes (viewed from the front, and behind these are six holes)... one is visible, the other is not, because the arm is in front of it.
If I attach the arm with the screw in the lower large hole, then there are four holes remaining above, and none visible below.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, it just surprises me, and I don’t want any unnecessary, ugly holes afterwards.

IKEA-Experte12 Jun 2012 12:35There are two rows with four 5mm (0.2 inch) holes in a line. In the front hole of the lower row, the fitting is attached with a euro screw. The next two holes in the side panel are then covered. The four additional drill holes of the fitting are located slightly below or above the horizontal row of four holes. There are no holes in the side panel there. The chipboard screws to be used must therefore be screwed into the "hole-free" wood. For a 5mm (0.2 inch) hole, the screws would also be too thin.
I think you won’t make any mistakes, and your husband won’t kill you. 🙂
