Hello,

we are interested in buying a house.
In our town, we came across an interesting offer, but we still have one question.

Overall, the work looks good, but one thing makes me hesitant. When I look under the roof, I see an additional gable anchor that appears to have been installed later (if that is the correct term).

I would like to ask you why something like this is done and whether it is a cause for concern.

I have never seen gable anchors installed like this before...

The gable anchor is intended to support the gable and should be attached at the height of the ceiling joist layer. I would have the construction shown in the pictures checked by a structural engineer.
