I
inputtera2 Jan 2012 12:52Hello,
we are interested in buying a house.
In our town, we came across an interesting offer, but we still have one question.
Overall, the work looks good, but one thing makes me hesitant. When I look under the roof, I see an additional gable anchor that appears to have been installed later (if that is the correct term).
I would like to ask you why something like this is done and whether it is a cause for concern.

Hello,
I have never seen gable anchors installed like this before...
The gable anchor is intended to support the gable and should be attached at the height of the ceiling joist layer. I would have the construction shown in the pictures checked by a structural engineer.
