Hello everyone,

I need to start planning the electrical installation soon.

I want to install quite a few empty conduits with pull cords to stay flexible.

We are building a single-family house with a basement that will be finished later. It is still undecided which basement rooms will have which functions.

On the ground floor, there is a large living/dining area and an open kitchen; upstairs there are two children’s rooms and a bedroom.

My plan is as follows:

There will be a telephone connection in the living room with possible DSL and a Wi-Fi router. From there, a network cable should run to the attic. In the attic, there will be a LAN switch and a satellite TV system, which will distribute connections from there.

From the attic, I want to run empty conduits to all rooms upstairs, then one to the living room, and one to the utility room, as a cable connection might be installed there later.

Then, for the basement rooms, I plan to install 1–2 empty conduits. One conduit should suffice for two basement rooms since it’s possible to drill through the wall.

Is this approach okay, or am I overdoing it with the number of empty conduits?

Best regards
