Hello everyone,

Can anyone recommend LED recessed downlights? I am also considering the basic question of whether to choose integrated LED units or those with replaceable bulbs. With integrated LEDs, you have to replace the entire fixture if it fails, which might be difficult after a few years unless you keep some spares in stock.

I find GU10 sockets too tall in design. The GX53 socket seems very interesting. With that, you could use many downlights with the same base and equip them with different LED bulbs (varying brightness, color temperature, dimmable/non-dimmable) while keeping the same socket. And you can replace the bulbs if one fails.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found any tests or reviews. Of course, it’s commonly said that LEDs last a long time, but is that really true? And how can you identify good quality?

Thank you very much.

Hello, I feel the same way and wrote a post about this earlier today.
I looked into the LED spots from the company Ledando. The housings are made of aluminum (from LC Light, a German company) and are available in various versions. You can expect to pay around 20-25€ per spot. However, the sockets can also be purchased on Amazon and elsewhere; I have seen prices of 6-7€, plus the light bulbs from Lumixon on Amazon for about 5€ each. There are also more powerful bulbs available.
For me, only the GX53 type is an option due to the design of our ceiling.
How do you arrange your spots in rooms and hallways? In my post, I attached a plan of our house with a possible layout—take a look and maybe we can help each other.

Where can I find the plan? I don’t see anything like that. I’m not sure yet how I will arrange the spotlights. I will first take a look inside the house, which will be erected next week. However, it will be quite different once completed, because the finished wall and floor coverings are not yet installed during the shell construction phase.
