Hello,
I don’t believe such a system is absolutely necessary, or rather, I haven’t yet seen the significant benefits it offers. I prefer to simply open the window. What are the advantages of a ventilation and exhaust system, and what might be the drawbacks?

Gentlemen, after so much off-topic discussion..., this is about the pros and cons of a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery! Thanks [emoji8]

Just because you think you know more doesn’t mean you actually do!

We weren’t discussing the profitability of photovoltaic systems, but their storage solutions.

And my point from the start was that they are either not profitable or only become so very late!

I made an analogy with cars to illustrate the comparable sense or purpose.

I understand that one shouldn’t criticize what Germans hold dear; the holy grail must remain untouchable!
Sorry, but I have to say that this comparison is more than illogical.
Since I rely on a car, the ROI is reached quickly because without it I couldn’t perform my job. That would mean significantly less income in urban areas, and owning property would be out of reach.
A battery storage system isn’t strictly necessary nor does it provide nearly the same benefits as a motor vehicle.

That said, I agree with you overall. I also only buy used cars because I refuse to pay €50,000 (about $54,000) for something that loses 20% of its value the moment it’s registered. My car is 17 years old and runs on LPG.

I would love to be self-sufficient, but the current prices asked are simply not affordable for everyone.

Back to the topic: I couldn’t afford a controlled mechanical ventilation system either because I preferred to take out less financing.
That’s why I can’t enjoy the benefits [emoji12]

...if it were only about profitability, everyone would drive a Dacia Sandero or similar!

Regarding the ventilation system, this will never pay off either; at least not without heat recovery!

Consistent window ventilation usually does not generate costs; at least none that can be passed on.

The same applies to the entire house project...

That’s all nonsense. A mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery is a matter of comfort, and that of course comes at a cost. It’s that simple.
What’s frustrating is that the eco-lobby doesn’t just recommend but legally forces us to build airtight plastic membranes. Completely contrary to health.
For that reason, and partly out of stubbornness, I support window rebate ventilation and retrofitting holes in the plastic membrane. Karsten

@Nordlys

I agree with you; I expect my ventilation system with heat recovery to improve comfort!

Since our system can also actively cool with 5 kW (17,000 BTU/h), I think it works similarly to a car: just set it once to 22°C (72°F) and that’s that.

What system do you have?
