Hello everyone,

Does anyone have experience with the demolition of a house contaminated with asbestos? We are considering buying a plot of land in Berlin with an old bungalow (80m2 (860 sq ft)) on it. The house is likely contaminated with asbestos, and we plan to demolish it anyway.

Does anyone have experience with this and can roughly estimate the costs? Also, what would be the worst-case scenario?

Would you recommend proceeding with the purchase? We have already negotiated the land price down by €75,000.

Any helpful input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards and thanks in advance.

Uh, sorry... haven’t you contacted the contractor yet and requested two or three rough quotes?
If not, do that next.
We really can’t say much about the quality of the plot!

Please define that more precisely. Where and how much asbestos is there? Has it been tested, or is it just an assumption?

Anyway, ypg already said it perfectly: get quotes.

Asbestos roof on barn and outbuildings, approximately 250 sqm (2,690 sq ft)
3,600 euros for dismantling the roof and proper disposal, including transportation and crane with work platform
Surprisingly affordable.
5 night storage heaters containing asbestos cost just over 1,000 euros. These only needed to be loaded, wrapped in plastic sheeting, and transported. We had to apply for the disposal certificate ourselves.

Be sure to talk to demolition companies. Disposal prices vary significantly.
