Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and very impressed by the helpfulness!
We have reserved a plot of land and are now considering how to use it effectively. At least the zoning plan meets our expectations, but we are still unsure how to position the garage and the house on the property.
I have attached a suitable image. North is at the top, and the main entrance should be located there as well. The numbers indicate the width and length. Unit – meters (feet).

If I place the garage next to the house, the driveway is relatively long. Do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you very much for your support!
Björn

I’ll keep the idea about the shower in mind. Our architect has planned a “privacy wall” in front of the toilet. We actually liked the idea. However, it still needs further development. We will adjust the window in the office. That’s really a good suggestion.
In our first draft, there was an exit to the terrace through the kitchen. My wife currently prefers a U-shaped kitchen, but that is not fixed yet. I will pass on your comment about the fireplace to our architect.
I still have a few questions.
At the moment, we planned roof pitches of 30° and 38°, but we still have the option to change the slope. Anything between 20° and 45° is possible according to the building permit/planning permission. From your perspective, would it make sense to change the roof slope to, for example, 25° and 33° to increase the knee wall height? Technically, that is no problem. Would this affect the overall appearance of the building? When I walk through new housing developments, I often see relatively low-pitched roofs.
The clear ceiling height on the ground floor/upper floor is 2.51 m (8 ft 3 in). In the basement, it is 2.39 m (7 ft 10 in). Is this sufficient? In the basement, we have planned an office and a hobby room.
Do you also have any opinions on skylights? I’m not quite sure if the rooms upstairs will be bright enough. On the other hand, the windows are already 1.53 m (5 ft) wide.
Thank you very much for your answers! If I may, I would like to add another question.
Would you replace the windows in the dining room with sliding doors, or would that leave too little space for furniture? Enough questions for today!
This forum is really helpful! Thanks for your answers!

Is this simply another measurement for the house, or can I derive additional information from it?The enclosed volume, or cubic volume, is usually what the bank wants to see for financing purposes. At least, that was the case for us.
This is because the floor area alone doesn't tell the whole story. It provides the surface size, but not the actually usable space.

We are currently planning with a roof pitch of 30 and 38 degrees. A roof pitch between 20 and 45 degrees is allowed. The current knee wall height is 1.40 m (4 ft 7 in) and 1.50 m (4 ft 11 in).
Would you take the opportunity to design a flatter roof in order to achieve a higher knee wall?
The maximum building height is 8 m (26 ft 3 in).
