Hello everyone,
since I am not an expert in this field and want to avoid making mistakes, I would like to know your opinion.
We have purchased a newly built house from a developer, and currently the electrician is working on the property. A high-voltage connection is planned for the garage. However, an electric or hybrid car is not planned within the next 1-2 years. Does it make sense to have a wall box installed right away because of the current incentives? At least that is what the electrician suggested.
Or is just running the cable enough for now (is there any funding for that)? How would you proceed?
Thanks for your advice.

This is stated in the FAQ of our network operator.

Everyone has their own approach. North Rhine-Westphalia does not require a second meter with the current subsidy (which significantly exceeds the KfW option), even for non-controllable devices.

Unfortunately, only until November! Otherwise, it would even be possible to combine them and theoretically claim both, as far as I understand.

At least until November for the increased subsidy.

No. KfW prohibits combining their subsidies with other forms of support.

How much does a wallbox cost if you have it installed by an electrician?

The cable is already laid...

It costs about 200 euros.

I spoke with our electrician.
Unfortunately, he only installed a 5x2.5mm² (5x13 AWG) cable to the garage back then... :-(

So, the maximum capacity is an 11 kW wallbox. However, this does not need to be registered with the energy provider.

He asked me at the time what kind of cable to install... I just said, “Install one suitable for a wallbox, and that’s it!” Bad move!

Running another cable, or a thicker one, is too much hassle for me... I would have to remove several meters of paving, etc. Not interested!

So, he will just install an 11 kW wallbox in the garage, and that’s that!

It would be great if there was a box with Wi-Fi... But for around €900 it should be possible to find a decent one, right? Labor costs shouldn’t be too high since the cable already runs from the fuse box (not connected!) to the destination...

No, there isn’t, if it is to be reliable and controllable.
