ᐅ Issues with the bathroom contractor even before work has started.

Good evening everyone.
I have a question. About four weeks ago, we visited bathroom showrooms for our house build and selected items for both bathrooms extensively. Unfortunately, we did not receive any list of the selected products from the showroom.
Today, we received an offer from the installer through whom we now want to order the items. The problem is:
1. The offer does not include a detailed list of the components, just modules like: Bathtub including labor €2000. Toilet including labor €1400.
2. The company refuses to provide a breakdown of the components and to list labor costs separately. Their argument is that we only want a shopping list.
3. For deducting the fixed-price components, for example, only €100 is deducted for toilet plus labor.
I feel somewhat taken advantage of here, or is this normal practice?

Quotes and invoices are nowadays typically created using the same software. This means that if the quote is already so unprofessional, the invoice will likely be just as careless later on. If you still want to go with this supplier, I would recommend having the following note added to the quote: "the materials used correspond to the itemized list in Appendix A." This way, you attach your purchase list, and they sign and stamp it as well. If they refuse, then the contract should go elsewhere.

Or not – then the order goes elsewhere. That’s exactly why I first need this list.
The bathroom showroom refuses to provide it because they don’t have a contractual relationship with me.

That’s why I need exactly this list first. Now I’m a bit confused. I thought I understood that this list was compiled by you—that is, the summary of your selection activities (?).
If that’s the case, I’m afraid you’ll have to do it again and write it down yourself—otherwise the bathroom contractor will (rightfully) install “something or equivalent.”
Why are you making selections without documenting what exactly? As far as I know, people usually do this by taking photos with a smartphone—“click” on the tile, “click” on the price tag with the model name…

As far as I know, people use their smartphones to take a photo of the tile, then a photo of the price tag with the model name… Because in the showroom, neither product names nor prices are displayed. Instead, you go through everything with a consultant who takes notes and passes them on to the craftsman, who then purchases from them.

Sounds unsurprising; it was always the same for us as well.
The only difference was that the plumber provided us with a quote including model numbers – what the plumber is doing here is definitely not acceptable.
