I need help
I want to build a carport in front of my house (6.50m x 7.60m [21 ft 4 in x 24 ft 11 in]).
The distance to the property boundaries is between 2.8m and 4.0m (9 ft 2 in and 13 ft 1 in) – so far, there is no building on the boundary. The driveway of the carport is 4m (13 ft 1 in) long.
According to the local authority, this is not approved because they require a minimum driveway length of 5m (16 ft 5 in), so that a car can still be parked in front of the carport.
Do I have to comply with the local authority’s requirements, or can I build as I wish?
Thanks in advance for the help

Or convince the municipality that only smart cars will be parked in front of and inside the garage.
But unfortunately, the municipality has the final say. I can’t say exactly what the consequences will be.
