Hello,

I would like to mount the following WLAN access point on the antenna mast of the satellite dish. There is already a LAN installation cable (Cat7) exposed there. I hope this will provide good WLAN reception, especially in the somewhat more distant seating area in the garden, apart from a few wireless shadows caused by the house itself.

For this, I am looking for a very small (field-terminable) RJ45 connector that fits behind the cover of a Ubiquiti UniFi Access Point-AC-M. Metz Connect and similar products are clearly too long/large.

Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to achieve this?

I have also considered an outdoor network outlet with a suitable weatherproof patch cable holder. But maybe there are better (simpler) solutions.

Regards
B

Search for RJ45 connectors for Cat 7 installation cable at Kabelscheune; one of them might fit without the strain relief. Otherwise, install a small gel-filled splice nearby and continue with a thin cable.

Have you considered surge protection?

Just attach a keystone jack and then a patch cable to the access point. With the M type, a field-attachable connector won't fit. It doesn't provide proper sealing there.
Use Isoband or heat shrink tubing around the keystone. This way it remains easy to replace...

Good idea 🙂 thanks! The UBI ETH-SPG2 should fit, right? A potentially suitable spot would be about 4m (13 feet) past the roof penetration behind an access panel…
