Hello everyone,

I'm getting a bit frustrated and hope you can help me.
We planned/had planned a kitchen island using a method system. Three 60cm (24 inch) units side by side, with two 60cm (24 inch) units behind them at a depth of 30cm (12 inch). It looks roughly like this: mm
MMM
The island is positioned against the wall on the left side. This means we need to add a 60cm (24 inch) panel on the side and back, and a 30cm (12 inch) panel on the side as cover panels. We were supplied with cover panels here, but they stick out over 3cm (1 inch) beyond the cabinet carcass. The doors are 1.5cm (0.6 inch) thick, so that’s 1.5cm (0.6 inch) too much. That can’t be right, can it?! From my point of view, cutting them down yourself doesn’t make sense either. After all, then you would have cut edges visible on the visible sides.
How did you solve this problem? When planning, there was never any mention that we would have to cut anything ourselves.

I hope my explanation is clear.

Many thanks,
basti

The additional centimeter comes from the wall rail, which is going to be covered with cladding. Since you don’t have a wall rail on the island, you will need to cut the top side (cut edges facing each other) or install the cabinet rows with a 2 cm (0.8 inch) gap between them.
