Hello,
I recently bought an IKEA kitchen, and my existing 45cm (18 inches) fully integrated dishwasher is supposed to fit into it. So, I purchased a matching front panel and the Behjälplig fitting from IKEA. Unfortunately, I am having trouble installing the sliding hinge.
I followed the instructions completely, and everything seemed to fit—the front panel is attached to the dishwasher. But as soon as I try to open the dishwasher door, the door starts rubbing against the sliding hinge at about half-open. The further I open the door, the worse it gets.
This surely can’t be intended, right? Does anyone have any idea what I might have done wrong?

IKEA-Experte22 May 2015 13:26Hello, I assume this is not an XXL appliance, unlike Jelimi’s machine. For a dishwasher with a standard height of about 82 cm (32 inches), the distance between the pivot point of the dishwasher door and the cabinet door is greater. This also increases the angle between the planes in which both doors lie. As a result, with a standard-height dishwasher, the clearance at the top when opening is smaller than with an XXL model. However, Behjälplig is also intended for standard dishwashers.
(The sale of Behjälplig was probably not discontinued without reason.)
If I have identified the correct cause, the only solution I currently see is to lower the dishwasher and fill the gap between the dishwasher and the countertop with a strip.

Exact dimensions are not for an XXL appliance. Earlier, as you suggested, I almost completely lowered the dishwasher. And indeed, there is no longer any rubbing on the rail.
It’s not a perfect solution, and now it makes some strange noises when opening (only in the last 10°–15° (10°–15°)). But at least the door now opens and closes without any problems.
In other kitchens, the front panel is simply mounted directly onto the door, without a rail system. I assume this isn’t possible with an Ikea kitchen because the kickboard at the bottom is lower than in other kitchens?

IKEA-Experte25 May 2015 15:31That’s not possible because at 80cm (31.5 inches) the front panel cannot swing far enough underneath the dishwasher. It should also be possible, by adjusting the legs, to raise the lower pivot point of the front panel—but only enough so that the front can still swing under the appliance. This would mean positioning the shafts and brackets 5cm (2 inches) higher. If I’m not mistaken.

Sektionschef26 May 2015 07:59Actually, this is new information for us:
Behjälplig is not suitable for non-XXL appliances!
Until now, I always assumed that Behjälplig could be used regardless of the dishwasher type.
Best regards,
