I want to replace the old shower enclosure and shower tray because the previous tenants left them in poor condition.
The problem is that there is a built-in masonry shelf all around, and starting at 1.30 m (4 feet 3 inches), I have a 16 cm (6 inches) wide gap if I want to install a standard 80 x 80 cm (31½ x 31½ inches) shower enclosure.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem without expensive custom-made solutions?

garfunkel17 Sep 2016 23:12You could probably install a standard shower enclosure and place a "piece of plastic" at the wall projection. Connect the enclosure and the "piece of plastic" with a strip and seal it watertight with silicone, and you’re done.
First, I would inform the landlord, since as a tenant I am not responsible for existing fixtures and they do not belong to me. Therefore, I would at least want to obtain permission. If the cabin has defects that go beyond cosmetic issues, I would also try to have the landlord replace the cabin.
