Hello everyone,

Since I couldn't find anything suitable while searching, here is my question.

At the end of November, the screed will be applied in my new build, and the plaster has already been drying for two weeks. The painter is scheduled for week 10 of 2023.
We are a bit pressed for time in March.
Since I have some free time right now, I would possibly like to apply the primer coat already. Can I do this without any concerns? Or could there be issues when the screed is applied and the dehumidifiers are running? I am only worried that the primer might "disappear" due to the dehumidifiers or the underfloor heating being turned on.

Many thanks.

Primer before the screed? Where? I don’t see what that would achieve.

By the way, applying primer might take about an hour... The time saved isn’t really significant.

I think he means on the walls.
I wouldn’t do that; after two weeks of drying, they certainly won’t be fully dry yet.
We were in a similar situation with time pressure. Our general contractor strongly advised against applying anything to the walls before they were properly dry.
Besides, the painter will probably need to do the plastering first; the primer is applied only after that.

That makes sense.

I agree with you; however, as long as it hasn’t been plastered yet, it’s pointless. At least in our case, this was only done after the screed and heating were completed.

Apply primer on walls and ceilings; I would argue it takes longer than an hour ;-)

Yes, some areas still need to be fixed. I will just wait until the end, or the painter will take care of it then.
Thanks first of all for the responses.
