ᐅ Price Differences Between Wood-Aluminum and PVC (Plastic) Windows?

Have any of you perhaps been undecided between wood-aluminum and uPVC windows, obtained quotes for both, and decided on one? We are unfortunately not yet at the stage where we know the exact window dimensions, but I have already run some rough calculations using various configurators. For wood-aluminum, the price usually comes out at about twice that of uPVC windows. In both cases, the exterior color is 7016, burglary resistance class A3, mushroom-head locking RC2N, high-quality spacers, and all the typical premium components you can install in a window (so a significant part of the cost is also glass and other elements), yet the price for wood-aluminum is still roughly double. They also meet the KfW55 energy standard, and use 6-chamber profiles—so far, I haven’t come across the 7-chamber profiles mentioned by the building expert. Roughly calculated, wood-aluminum windows cost 10,000 to 15,000 EUR more than comparable uPVC windows—is this about right, or have you had different experiences?

We chose some from Gealan (names are allowed, only links are prohibited) – RC2N. There aren’t many manufacturers producing acrylic profiles either.

Yes, I had a look at those as well. Unfortunately, there are very few suppliers here in Hamburg. Make sure to check the transmission values of the glass.

Yes, we also briefly considered wood-aluminum windows. They look good, but the vinyl windows were already extremely expensive, so an additional cost was not possible within our tight budget. A standard window measuring 1.8 meters (5 ft 11 in) high and 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) wide already cost 1000 euros. At some point, you have to draw the line. By the way, these are also the Isostar models with Thermowhite glass.

Then you must have had an expensive window manufacturer.

The selection wasn’t very large. We had to change the window manufacturer halfway through because they discontinued our chosen frame color. And having two different window colors really isn’t necessary.

In our 88xxx area, there is a window manufacturer that advertises with what could be described as "amateurish" colored plastic windows. Fensterbau Bräuer Schwendi.
Apparently, they also use GEALAN.

As far as I know, with window manufacturers it also depends on which materials are primarily sold or installed. This affects their purchasing margins. In our region, there are a few large window manufacturers who exclusively install/sell wood-aluminum windows. The terms there are supposed to be better than those of a "normal" window manufacturer that sells about 80% plastic, 15% wood/aluminum, and 5% aluminum.
But: price is not everything. Especially with today’s window prices, I want to speak with references first (due to our negative experience with plastic windows).
