I want to install a GARDENA hose reel system on a prefab house wall (Danwood Perfect 98). The house will be completed in spring 2020. The hose reel with the hose weighs about 20 kg (44 lbs). Can a wall like this withstand that weight (render, insulation, occasional wooden beam, 35 cm deep (14 inches))? Are there suitable anchors for this?

Hi,
I just took a look at the wall structure.
(Plaster, 120mm (5 inches) polystyrene, 12mm (0.5 inches) wood-based panel, then timber studs)
The 20-kilogram (44 pounds) garden hose reel might hold, but with normal use—like pulling the hose sideways or it hanging somewhere—it probably won’t last long. In my opinion, the mounting will fail eventually, leaving ugly holes in the wall, and the carrier board has likely compressed the insulation as well.

I would hang the hose reel somewhere next to the house wall or in the garden on a concrete, granite, or similar column. That way, you can secure the reel properly and it will hold—plus, you won’t have holes in your building envelope.

I think it won’t work in the long run.

I can't say anything about the fastening, but I have a tip regarding the system: Use the automatic hose reel from Gardena. We have two of them, each with 50m (164 feet) of hose, and they are simply brilliant. Just pull once briefly, and the hose retracts automatically.

The forces involved during unrolling/rolling alone are quite significant, and one might not even want to imagine them.

Thanks to Fischer and Würth, there will be something available, I have little doubt about that. But I would mount the thing on a fence post placed against the wall.

Seriously – not integrated, but ETICS on a wooden panel?
