Hello,
I’m new here. We are facing a difficult decision regarding our building project this year.
We have received quotes for identical single-family homes with a granny flat from Hartl Haus and Elk Haus.
Both manufacturers offer almost the same services (except for minor details), and the house would cost roughly the same with either prefabricated house company!
I couldn’t find much information online about experiences with either company. So, I’m trying my luck here. We want to make a decision within the next two weeks.
Does anyone have experience with Hartl Haus or Elk Haus? Which company would you lean toward and why? Does Hartl Haus really install higher-quality walls? As I said, there are small differences. For example, Hartl Haus offers wooden/aluminum windows as standard. Elk Haus “only” offers plastic windows.
Best regards
Michi

Michi13125 Jul 2019 16:09I can’t confirm that. Elk Haus is still very approachable even after signing the contract. We’re not building a standard house with a typical shape, meaning we have basically decided almost everything about where each room will be and so on. This process took some time since we kept adding or changing things, but now the maternity leave period is here, and the building permit / planning permission can be submitted.
In the end, I personally called Elk Haus in Austria rather than going through our sales representative. With special requests and so many changes, that’s always the best way to go.
Best regards

Marx2019119 Dec 2019 20:31Hello, we are building the house type 147 as an urban villa with ELK HAUS Germany, but without the office extension. So far, we are satisfied. I believe it also depends on what expectations you have of your contracting partner. Of course, we purchased a so-called catalog home because we think that the floor plan would probably not change significantly with an architect’s design. If it did, it would likely come with complications or additional costs. Regarding the ELK consultants in Leipzig and Dresden, we can only report positive experiences so far. They first showed us the possibilities with ELK Haus and then provided a detailed plan with deadlines explaining how everything would work. We also spoke with other former ELK Haus customers who reported only minor issues to us (for example, the construction power box was only picked up later by the electrician, and one electric shutter could not be controlled remotely at first due to a panel error – all of which were later resolved without any problems). Our house is now close to handover, and we are happy that everything has worked out so well. So, from us, the Marx family, ELK Haus receives a positive review. We wish you all the best with your own home building. PS: The heating with the ventilation actually works wonderfully—quiet, efficient, pleasantly warm, and great air quality. We still bought a fireplace, just in case.
