So, what precautions have you taken at your houses/construction sites for today and the coming days?

Work stoppage?
Or will the work continue as usual?

Although we have already finished building our house, we moved everything that is not anchored into the garage.
Hopefully, the bricks will stay in place with the clamps.

Strangely, the neighbors put up the entire scaffolding just last night because the workers will be roofing the house next week.. oops:
Not sure if that was a good idea.

Definitely take pictures right after the workers leave the construction site. I will try to store loose parts in a wind-protected area. Portable toilet... hmm, I don’t think I can secure that easily...

I’m going for a nice walk this evening. Finally, all the external blinds are fully raised, otherwise it’s hard to see inside.

We have an old building and a finished garden. During storms, I only bring inside anything that is loose, such as my rotary clothesline, balcony planters, hanging baskets, and hanging decorations. For everything else, the rule here is: it just has to withstand it. I only ever worry about the roof, but so far it has held up against every storm.

Securing a construction site is much more difficult. Especially scaffolding, tarps... there is so much left outside. I would put small items away and secure anything that could be blown around during a storm. In the case of a hurricane, you can only hope that nothing happens.

Any ideas on how to secure the portable toilet?

I just put in four 25kg (55 lb) buckets of plaster.

@halmi

Very good idea... I only had the empty plaster buckets left in the house...
