Hello everyone,
Longtime forum members might know me by the name of a neighboring county to Wiltshire. I was inactive for a few years. Since the summer of 2019, we have been living in our wooden house, which was discussed here and for which I received valuable advice. We are still very happy with the decision to build it and feel completely comfortable in our "open-plan wooden house." There were hardly any issues at handover; the few minor things that came up were fixed quickly and reliably. The only remaining problems are a non-functioning exterior power outlet in a spot that, as it turns out, we don’t actually need, and a somewhat inconsistent wireless control of the outdoor lighting—sometimes it switches 2 lamps, sometimes 4.
The house was mainly built by SK Holzbau (Schwirten & Klein) in Gummersbach. They also managed the construction and coordinated the trades in close cooperation with us.
Perhaps some of you were curious about how things progressed after I left the forum rather abruptly. I have already recognized a few familiar usernames again and am glad about that.
Best regards,
Max

What do you mean by "decided firmly"? That sounds like deep bitterness, but your last post under your old name was free of conflict or even dispute. What drove you away?Internet forums are generally not important enough in my life to cause bitterness. I was upset with the forum administration. German is a wonderfully precise language: if you read that sentence carefully, it becomes clear who is actually upset with whom. Since continuing to be upset served no purpose, I decided to stop engaging with the source of frustration and left the forum.
From time to time, I thought about some of the friendly people here and wanted to check how they were doing or what had happened to them. So I registered again.

Your first son is already flying the nest. It’s amazing how time flies. Hello @haydee! The "boy" is 25...
I have read that among mammals, the most intelligent ones have an especially long period of childhood. For this reason, I’m not worried about Generation Z and Generation Alpha.

You call that smart? I was still being carried at 3.
