Hello to all homebuilders,

I have a few questions about installing the ventilation system:
I would like to place my ventilation unit in the basement (fully underground). The basement does not extend above ground on any side.

1. I ventilate the basement itself through light wells, so the ventilation system is intended only to serve the living areas. Does that make sense?
2. The intake of fresh air and the exhaust of used air present a problem for me: I would basically have to route the ducts from the basement up to the ground floor (through an opening in the ceiling) and then from there over the garage to the exterior wall of the house. That adds up to quite a few meters of ductwork. Is that a disadvantage? What alternatives are there? What about condensate?
3. On which side of the building (which cardinal direction) should the intake and exhaust vents be installed on the exterior wall?

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards
