ᐅ Positioning the front door with a sidelight panel

Hello everyone,

I am not completely satisfied with the entrance area in our floor plan yet.
I am considering removing the window in the cloakroom and instead adding a door with a side panel of about 50cm (20 inches).
Would the side panel be better positioned on the left or right side of the front door?
And would you change the direction in which the door opens?

I would change the door swing so that you enter the cloakroom directly from the front door without having to walk around the door.

But then it goes around the door, since the staircase is more important to it than the wardrobe.

And the person coming down the stairs will have the door right in front of them.
