sauerpeter15 Sep 2015 14:39Hello,
our real estate agent (regarding the plot) is really slow.
I have to say, there are some issues with the plot where the current owners need to be involved and take initiative.
When I ask for updates, I hardly get any response. Usually, I receive the answer from the owner himself, who then tells me that he has already informed the agent a long time ago.
How would you handle this situation when you always have to chase her to get information from the owners? I mean, she’s getting a hefty commission for almost doing nothing.
Is it possible to dispute her commission? After all, I’m doing almost everything myself: gathering information, talking and calling the owners, obtaining quotes, conducting viewings alone, etc.
What exactly is she charging for, or how does she justify it? That she gave me a printout of her listing from the internet?
Have you ever been in a similar situation?

nordanney15 Sep 2015 17:15Well, a real estate agent acts as an intermediary. Simply facilitating the transaction would have been enough to earn their commission (assuming you actually buy).
A good agent takes care of their clients; it seems you got stuck with a less competent one and will have to handle things yourselves...

Doc.Schnaggls16 Sep 2015 13:52Hello,
as @nordanney has already mentioned, the real estate agent has provided their original service to you. All other matters fall under voluntary "customer service."
In my opinion, you will hardly have any chance to reduce the commission. Why not discuss the points you are unhappy with with the agent – maybe they will adjust the commission as a gesture of goodwill... 😉

Dirk

DerBjoern17 Sep 2015 11:27The realtor has already claimed their fee by simply listing the property online. Printing it out for you was already a service. Unfortunately, I have never met a realtor where this process went significantly better...

DerBjoern17 Sep 2015 15:43Once the agent finds out that the house has been purchased, they will quickly present the invoice, as they can still prove that they played a key role in the transaction.
