Hello everyone,
We bought an above-ground pool, 3x2 m (10x6.5 ft), but plan to build an in-ground pool (5x3 m / 16.5x10 ft) in 1-2 years. Both require a sand filter pump, so we thought it would be best to get a good one right away.
But which one? Do you have any tips? We see offers ranging from €90 to €300.. what should we pay attention to?

Thanks and best regards

The pump needs to match the sand filter. Do you already have one?
If the pump is too powerful, it can push dirt back through the filter into the pool—sometimes even the sand itself...
Are you planning to install solar collectors or a heater? This should also be taken into account.

Above-ground pools are often sold with undersized filters.

Very good pumps come, for example, from Speck Badu.
For your future pool, the Bilbao 400mm (16 inches) sand filter with the Magic II 6 pump is recommended. This combination also works well for smaller above-ground pools. It is important to filter the pool water 2-3 times a day or at least keep the water circulating. That means not running the pump once a day for 8 hours straight, but rather dividing the filtration into segments, such as 2-hour intervals spread throughout the day.
