Hello. Does anyone have experience with prefabricated pools and can share their insights? What do you think about ready-made pools?

Our pool installer is very much in favor of prefabricated pools and apparently installs mostly these nowadays, rarely the masonry pools made of concrete with liner. The price differences aren’t that significant either.

We haven’t decided yet and look forward to exchanging experiences.

Best regards

@rick2018 : 🙂 My husband also had a good laugh when we were on vacation in a 1.50m (5 feet) pool and he asked me if I needed a straw to comfortably stand and breathe 🙂 But we have a roller shutter cover that you can sit on; that will be my spot for drinking cocktails.

Yes, the price difference was indicated by a manufacturer who does both—it was less about the technology and more about the costs for excavation, concreting, and lining. Our current pump in the prefabricated pool is, as far as I know, almost fully automatic and can be controlled with a smart function (for these kinds of questions, I let my husband and our consultant take the lead, and I wanted to keep it as simple as possible).

Since you’ve had your pool for a while now: How often do you heat it, and do you have an idea of how much it costs you per season? (It’s just pure interest on my part as we don’t want a photovoltaic system.)

Our pool is quite large, which is why we heat it with gas. Therefore, our figures might not be directly applicable to your situation. We started heating at Christmas and stopped last week. During periods of good weather and milder outdoor temperatures, the heater ran only in the mornings. The rest of the heating came from the solar cover. When it got colder, the heater ran for 12 to 24 hours. Heating costs, including the house, were sometimes around €50 per day at -14°C (7°F). Electricity costs with a controlled pump are low, and the electricity mostly comes from the photovoltaic system. We used about 175 liters (46 gallons) of chlorine and 50 liters (13 gallons) of pH-minus. We also have an infinity/overflow pool, which experiences more heat loss at the overflow. The entire pool is insulated. Our pool holds just under 120 m3 (4,238 cubic feet).

If budget is not an issue, a stainless steel pool is excellent. Otherwise, a concrete pool with a coating will last forever.
