Hello,

we have a small issue in the bathroom. The tilers were here and want to start laying the tiles. The shower area is planned to be 120 x 120 cm (47 x 47 inches), so a total of four tiles sized 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches). It was unfortunately discovered that the drain is not exactly centered between the four tiles, and now the tilers say that cutting the tiles diagonally is not possible because of this. Normally, the tiles are cut diagonally in the center.

At the tile showroom, they said cutting is not a problem. So what is correct? Is it really not possible because the drain is not exactly in the middle?

Of course, that works, but it doesn’t look symmetrical. At this point, you won’t be able to change the drainage without a significant amount of work anyway...

The answer from "xMisterDx" is correct!
The required cutout only affects the final appearance but is really no problem to execute technically when working with ceramic tiles!

This is a visual issue. It would bother me. The installer made a mistake. Remove the drain and have it repositioned.

Cutting tiles is possible. However, it just doesn’t look perfect in the end.
