Good evening!

I just registered and need your help.

We are building an L-shaped house (ground floor plan attached) and are unsure about how to install the tiles (22.5x90cm (9x35 inches)). The same tiles will be installed throughout the entire ground floor including the stairs, except for the guest bathroom.

I would be very grateful for your suggestions!

Best regards

That looks quite angular. I don’t have much experience either, but I would start with one wall. First, mark everything out on the floor. Please don’t forget the 1 cm (0.4 inch) expansion joint.

Yes, that already looks strange. Marking it out is a good idea. But where it tapers, use templates. You can easily make these from cardboard. Have fun with it.

So, there are many options, including an L-shaped house. I also think it’s best to start in the back corner and, where it narrows, prepare templates beforehand. However, this is a difficult task, and a beginner will likely get frustrated.

We don’t have an L-shaped house, but one room also has its corners. When installing the laminate flooring, my husband made templates and adjusted them repeatedly until they fit perfectly. Patience is definitely required here.

I almost got frustrated with this work as well. Building a house with such an angled design is really not easy. Making templates was helpful, but I always had to trim them further. However, patience is key, and eventually it worked out.
