Hello,
Does anyone have experience with fiber-reinforced concrete, for example in foundations? There is a concrete called "Durus Easy Finish" by ADFIL, which is supposed to be usable for this purpose. However, there is little information available online, and most experienced masons still usually work with conventional welded steel reinforcement cages in strip foundations.
Best regards

My stone-building mantra also applies here: choose the option your contractor has the most experience with. Don’t be a guinea pig. No matter what you might have read about it: in practice, it has to be done and guaranteed to hold up.

Hello,

Only a few companies have experience with fiber-reinforced concrete.
It is very complex to work with and to mix correctly (distribution and orientation of fibers within the concrete matrix).
Therefore, fiber-reinforced concretes, unlike conventional concretes, are classified into performance classes that determine their load-bearing capacity.

For structural elements mainly subjected to compressive forces, fiber-reinforced concrete can already be useful, but only if the applicator is very experienced with it. As my predecessor mentioned, I would also not want to be the test subject there. In my opinion, the traditional method of reinforcing and casting a foundation is still the optimal approach.
I also cannot imagine that you would save money using fiber-reinforced concrete.

In consultation with your structural engineer, it is quite feasible for foundations. Usually, there is not much cost saving. You save on installing the reinforcement, but the concrete is more expensive... maybe a little time saving.

Reinforcement, including installation, will cost around 1200€ per ton. There probably won’t be very large quantities involved.

The time saved would be the duration of the tying process. I’m not familiar with your house, but for a strip foundation for a house, I would estimate about 3 days. I think this time difference evens out over the entire construction period.
Additionally, you face the challenge of whether the company you hire can reliably produce it. If not, you end up with the issue of having two different companies responsible for the foundation (one company for the foundation footing and another for the slab). I would avoid this interface. It can cause warranty issues.

That sounds very generous.
For us, it was one day to excavate, install the reinforcement cages, and in the evening the concrete was poured...
