ᐅ Plastering walls in the second quarter with textured roller plaster or other recommendations?

Hello

we have a newly built semi-detached house

all walls and ceilings will be finished with a Q2 level skim coat

we do not want to use wallpaper but instead plaster and paint the walls or use colored plaster

How can we make the walls look nice as a DIY project?

we plan to plaster the walls as smoothly as possible ourselves using filler compound

What should I do next—just paint them? Or what do you think about textured plaster? What would you recommend?

This is a completely normal picture. Thanks to the material’s nature, you’ll never get it perfectly even (even after applying it twice), even if you spray on the textured wall coating (which is also possible).

Yes, what I meant was that I took a photo of a spot that looks fairly even. We have other areas like that in the house as well. But everyone tends to show their best side 😉

By the way, I found that it helps to wash the paint roller (if that’s your tool of choice) every half hour or so. Otherwise, the roller eventually clogs with the texture granules and ends up applying too much material to the wall.

It’s no more complicated than other methods. You can tint the plaster (using a suitable tinting color) and simply roll it on, just like painting walls.

Otherwise, you apply filler and sand it (if needed), glue on painter’s fleece, and paint it (twice!?). That doesn’t improve it either.

I plastered and painted half of my house with EasyPutz. It would definitely be my first choice again. It’s very easy to apply (after working on one wall, you get a feel for how much to use and how thick to spread it) and it looks really good. However, I used the 0.5 version, which gives a finer finish. The best method is when one person applies it and another immediately follows with the finishing roller.

Seriously?
For me, it’s “junk.”
It looks terrible, the 0.5mm (0.02 inch) grain size can cause skin abrasion, and color stability is nonexistent.

About 10 years ago, I “improved” my small office with it and mixed in “Cappuccino” color (available in these little “capsules”).
There’s no trace of brown anymore, just some kind of “yellowed white with a green tint.” 😕

As a good, natural, and attractive wall covering, I can recommend SaJade cotton plaster.
Among other things, I used it for the entire stairwell…

Oh, wow... Seriously? That looks like moldy old newspaper stuck to the wall. I only know it (just like colored plaster) from families in the Arab region.

Color fastness is an unknown concept.

You also have to use decent materials 😉 Knauf and the pods are just DIY store quality. You get what you pay for.

😕

Do you constantly rub against your wall? ;-)
I applied the pure Easyputz plaster and then painted over it with high-quality silicate paint. I did not use the capsules because I didn’t have enough confidence that they would work well.
