Hi everyone,

Tomorrow we have our next appointment with the architect. For the detailed planning and tendering, among other things, the window layout on the upper floor needs to be finalized.

Currently, we have two options:
1. Upper floor as shown in the attached drawing – overhang as a flat roof
2. Upper floor children’s room on the south side with floor-to-ceiling windows and a door, dressing room also with a door providing access to the balcony

We are a bit undecided – cost difference according to the architect is about 10,000.

What do you think?

I had an in-depth discussion with my wife again. We will probably choose the large windows and design one module so that it can be later replaced by a door.
This way, we want to keep the option open to possibly add a balcony later on.

I would install windows with a knee wall in the children's rooms. It doesn't matter whether this is achieved through the window height or a balcony, but I would avoid creating a connection between parents and child through a balcony.

The compromise now is that we will install the windows as seating windows with a low sill height.
