Dear forum members,
I am planning to build a single-family house with a heat pump and want to carry out a deep drilling for this purpose.
Problems in my view – possible legacy issues from mining (Ore Mountains).
In another post, I also read that the local water authority has objected:
“Now the local water authority has thrown a wrench in the plans and does not allow deep drilling.”
Therefore, I would like to know where problems generally arise and how these can be identified early and avoided.
Best regards,
Florian
PS: The construction company believes that deep drilling would not be problematic.
PPS: I would prefer not to be surprised by insurmountable problems after the planning process.

Let me tell you what the drilling company charges per meter… if you’re drilling in rock, it might not be worth it at all.
Lower Saxony has a website where all drillings are listed. Maybe you have something similar in your area. Here, you can easily see the yield per meter and who nearby already has deep boreholes. If you have that, just go to your neighbors and ask how it went for them.
Also: before you place the order, apply for BAFA.

Rock is ideal for drilling and, depending on the material, excellent for heat exchange. This does not incur additional costs, as it is a routine job for any drilling company. Drilling for single-family homes is actually quite shallow compared to what these companies are capable of drilling.
Otherwise, contact the authorities to inquire; the building permit/planning permission should be prepared by the drilling company. If the permit is denied, you usually won’t have to pay for the drilling itself, only a small fee for the work related to the permit.

Are you sure about that? The information sheet from BAFA states:
The guidelines of the Market Incentive Program (MAP) have been revised and, since April 1, 2015 (the effective date of the current funding guidelines), set new technical funding requirements for heat pumps with newly installed geothermal probes (see section IV 3.4, 1) g). These are:
I would definitely check whether it is possible to drill somehow first and still qualify for the funding afterward.

- "Funding for heat pumps combined with the installation of a geothermal borehole requires that the borehole is installed according to the quality requirements of the technical standard DVGW W120-2 and that a no-fault insurance policy against unforeseen material damages has been taken out."

Drilling and commissioning the heating installation are two completely different matters.
