Hello,

We will soon be building a house in the Lower Rhine region, and we are looking for an expert who can help us with the decision-making and planning of a highly energy-efficient house. Friends recommended the company Eukon from Krefeld (which fits quite well :eek ), but they have no personal experience themselves and only know the company through others (colleagues at work or so). Has anyone had any experience with this company? Please share your thoughts. This is quite important to us.

Thank you!

Everyone, let the original poster first get settled in the topic of house construction. They need to realize that even the simplest currently permitted standard already requires only a small fraction of the energy compared to an older building. Every prefab home manufacturer today offers models starting from the KfW40+ category right from the catalog. For KfW standards, an energy consultant is mandatory anyway. So the category "Costs much more than it ever saves" is already pre-designed and available "on every corner."

There is absolutely nothing special about this that would require particular attention or limit the choice of builder in any way.

Anything beyond KfW40+ is only for clients where "money is no object."

Therefore, the recommendation to future homeowners is to first clarify questions like: which rooms, how large, location, regulatory requirements (building permit/planning permission), comfort features, floor plan, and BUDGET. Only within this framework can one then consider energy-related issues and integrate sensible solutions. Experience shows that the budget limits any ambitions beyond KfW55. No one voluntarily takes out an additional loan of 100,000 euros (about 110,000 USD) just to save 2,500 euros (about 2,700 USD) per year on energy costs. It just doesn’t add up.
