Hello everyone,

We have a mid-terrace house with a south-facing roof, but it has a dormer and two skylights. I would like to roughly estimate how many panels I can fit on my roof. Is there a simple tool where you can use something like Google Maps to do such a planning or estimation? Many thanks in advance.

1800€/kWp sounds significantly too expensive to me. However, I haven’t kept up with current prices for about six months now. I have something around 1000€, possibly less if it’s a somewhat larger system, in mind. For 7 kWp, a very cautious estimate would be closer to 1400€. This is probably calculated without including storage. My own self-built system probably comes to just under 550€/kWp at a size of 36.8 kWp, but that already includes 3200€ for a battery. Good full black modules and 600€ for bird protection are also included. The grid connection will only happen in the next few weeks, and the battery will likely be installed in about a year. But if self-building is an option, it might be a good choice. I have invested quite a bit of time in assembly and research. If you don’t want that or don’t feel confident doing it yourself, it’s better to have it done professionally. I would also get a few more quotes.

Oh, I almost forgot... the vent brick can be built over. Other ventilation pipes can also be shortened and built over. I specifically bought the vent bricks shown in your picture and used them as roof penetrations.

That might be true, but I read on a larger online platform that the cost is around 1600-1800 euros per kWp without storage. I calculated with a fixed-price storage system. So that includes everything, including installation and other expenses. I almost forgot to mention, I live near the Swiss border where prices are generally higher.
