Hello everyone,

We have a mid-terrace house with a south-facing roof, but it has a dormer and two skylights. I would like to roughly estimate how many panels I can fit on my roof. Is there a simple tool where you can use something like Google Maps to do such a planning or estimation? Many thanks in advance.

Photovoltaic*Sol can do that. It is also free for one month, or at least it was.
If you just want to see what fits, any CAD tool should work.

.. even a sheet of paper with a pencil and ruler should work for that 😉

I would simply use basic math and apply the Pythagorean theorem. And no, this is not a tool 😉

If you want to measure the roof, count the roof tiles and multiply that by the spacing between the tiles.

Make sure to keep a distance from the neighboring house; I believe it is 30cm (12 inches) on each side.

What is the pitch of the roof? For photovoltaic solar panels, you can also calculate using the north side. Currently, installation costs and components are so affordable that it can be cost-effective.

PVsol.
Otherwise, PVGis is also interesting, and for planning the substructure regarding load capacity, the tool K2 Base.
