Hello forum,

a simple question: how would you design/plan the terrace in our case? The starting point is shown in the sketch. We are currently thinking it over and have a few ideas, but who knows what ideas collective intelligence might come up with.

Thanks!

Around the corner – that way you can also sit in the shade occasionally without a roof or umbrella.

Thank you, okay, but how about around the corner? The corner in question faces south/west and, in principle, is never shaded except in the morning.

For me, this is the only option.

I would create two terraces: one for hot days at the level of the living room and the main terrace near the kitchen. Sunny and with short paths.
If the main garden with a swing, sauna, and pool is accessible from the dining/living area, I would place the main terrace there and a smaller one in the sun.

These are exactly my initial thoughts as well.
An herb garden and a nice relaxation corner in front of the kitchen, and the social terrace in front of the dining and living areas. Of course, this might not match your needs—I’m considering the possibility of more quiet in the home office when there’s activity in the garden, access during parties through the garage, and avoiding having all the "through traffic" inside the house. Children (if planned or already there) grow up quickly and will use the garden too if you get along well with them.
